BJEC RACE FLYERS

blackjack enduro championships

Since its founding in the fall of 1974, the Black Jack Enduro Championships — often called BJEC — has stood as a cornerstone of off-road motorcycle racing in the heartland of America. What began as a bold initiative in Oklahoma City for the 1975 season has since grown into a storied regional circuit, uniting racers across Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, and Missouri with typically around ten high-quality enduro events each year.

For more than five decades, BJEC has become more than just a competitive series — it’s a community and a family. Riders of every age and class, from Pee Wee riders to seasoned veterans, have chased year-end titles through a point-based championship structure. The organization has weathered highs and lows, but its mission has remained constant: to foster a system of enduro racing that is competitive, professionally managed and deeply rooted in off-road camaraderie.

2026 marks a pivotal moment for BJEC. As we enter our 51st year, we embrace it as more than just a milestone; it’s a new beginning.  BJEC has faced challenges and strains in recent years but this year, we start rebuilding stronger than ever. Our renewed leadership, mission, and vision aim to restore BJEC’s tradition of excellence while innovating for tomorrow. We’re recommitting to open communication, high-quality event planning, and a championship experience that honors our legacy and welcomes the next generation of racers.

Join us in this exciting chapter: whether you’re a BJEC veteran racer who’s been here since the early days, a newcomer wanting to try enduro racing, or family cheering from the sidelines —

your energy, passion, and participation will help carry BJEC into its next 50 years. Let’s ride into 2026 together.

BJEC History

1974–1975: Origins

  • In the fall of 1974, a group of dedicated off‑road riders led by Vern Street, Roy Poole, and Jerry Scott founded the Black Jack Enduro Circuit in Oklahoma City.

  • The first official season kicked off in 1975, featuring seven enduro events across Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas, and Missouri.

Late 1970s–1980s: Expansion & Stability

  • Over those early years, BJEC steadily grew into a well-known regional series. The circuit expanded its calendar, and by the 1980s, it was regularly hosting around 10 events per year.

  • This period established BJEC’s reputation as a grassroots but serious enduro championship, drawing riders from multiple states and building a loyal community of competitors and organizers.

1990s–2000s: Deepening Community

  • As the years passed, BJEC became more than just a race series — it forged strong connections among off-road clubs, local chapters, and families.

  • The championship structure matured, with year-end awards, class divisions, and continued commitment to challenging trail formats.

2010s: Modern Era & Legacy

  • By 2010 and beyond, BJEC’s results, standings, and event data were being tracked on platforms like MotoTally, reflecting the circuit’s professionalism.

  • The 2013 BJEC rulebook reaffirms its founding story, noting the original founders and the four-state mission.

  • Over decades, BJEC also introduced a PeeWee circuit to welcome young riders into competitive enduro racing.

2020s: Challenges & Rebuilding

  • In recent years, BJEC has faced organizational challenges that have strained its infrastructure and operations.

  • Still, membership has remained strong. The BJEC membership page notes its long history (since 1975) and the continuing value of rules, contingencies, and year-end awards for committed riders.

  • Race schedules continue to be robust, with multiple events across states like Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Missouri.

2026: A New Beginning

  • 2026 marks BJEC’s 51st year — a milestone that isn’t just about longevity, but renewal.  As the organization moves forward, new leadership is committed to rebuilding and strengthening BJEC: restoring transparency, revitalizing event planning, and re‑establishing the championship’s legacy of inclusive, challenging competition.

  • This renewed chapter invites everyone — veteran racers, newcomers, families, and volunteers — to help carry BJEC into a brighter and more sustainable future.
