Cameron Ishmael got the lead for good on the second lap and ran away with his first-ever RFGP victory after coming close nearly every year since he first started riding the event in 2007.

History of this award
The Mike Pearson Memorial Sportsmanship Award honors the spirit, integrity, and positive character embodied by our friend and RFGP crew member Mike Pearson—a man remembered not only for his love of motorcycles and the RFGP but also for the kindness and respect he showed to everyone around him. This award is presented each year to the rider who best demonstrates the values Mike lived by: fairness, honesty, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to helping others.
Recipients of this award lead by example. They compete with heart, treat opponents with respect, support their teammates, and show grace in both victory and defeat. The award celebrates athletes who understand that true greatness is measured not only by performance, but by character and helping their fellow rider.
Mike Pearson was known for his genuine sportsmanship, love of building racecourses and passion for helping others. Whether building trails, working the races, or in the community, he always brought a smile and encouraging attitude. Mike inspired countless others through his example, showing that integrity and respect are as important as any trophy. His legacy lives on through this award, which continues to recognize those who reflect the values he championed throughout his life.
