The RFGP tradition was born on a cold, overcast Thanksgiving weekend in 1995, along the banks of the Arkansas River in Fort Smith, Arkansas. That first year, around 90 riders braved the chill to kick off what would become a beloved annual event. Through sleet, snow, rain, and even floods, RFGP has endured — growing into a cherished tradition for hundreds of families across multiple states.
No matter the forecast — sunny skies and perfect dirt or cold, wet, and muddy conditions — our goal remains the same: to make every RFGP rider and their family feel like part of ours. It’s a laid-back weekend of old-school racing and genuine family fun, where the memories matter more than the weather.
2023, after 28 unforgettable years in Fort Smith, RFGP found a new home — and it’s even better than the original. RFGP 29 marked our debut at an exciting new location on the east side of Oklahoma City, nestled along the Oklahoma River. While the venue may have changed, the spirit of the race hasn’t: it’s still the same relaxed, fun-filled experience you know and love.hing interesting about your business here.
Providing our riders and their family with the best race weekend experience... EVERY YEAR!!!

The Mike Pearson Memorial Sportsmanship Award honors the spirit, integrity, and positive character embodied by our friend and RFGP crew member Mike Pearson—a man remembered not only for his love of motorcycles and the RFGP but also for the kindness and respect he showed to everyone around him. This award is presented each year to the rider who best demonstrates the values Mike lived by: fairness, honesty, dedication, and an unwavering commitment to helping others.
Recipients of this award lead by example. They compete with heart, treat opponents with respect, support their teammates, and show grace in both victory and defeat. The award celebrates athletes who understand that true greatness is measured not only by performance, but by character and helping their fellow rider.
Mike Pearson was known for his genuine sportsmanship, love of building racecourses and passion for helping others. Whether building trails, working the races, or in the community, he always brought a smile and encouraging attitude. Mike inspired countless others through his example, showing that integrity and respect are as important as any trophy. His legacy lives on through this award, which continues to recognize those who reflect the values he championed throughout his life.
